What an institution should be able to demonstrate

A framework domain explains intent. A standard states the capability or condition an institution should ultimately be able to show. Standards are published only after technical and leadership review, and each carries a version.

ASQAT is a proposed national framework. A published standard describes what good practice should look like and what evidence may demonstrate progress toward it. It does not carry regulatory force, and White Paper recommendations are not converted into standards without approval.

Where a standard has not yet been approved, the domain page remains the authoritative guidance for that subject.
